The Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division opened the Computational Mechanics office in Saint Louis Park, Minn., to provide support to the Engineering Dynamics Department and the U.S. Army. The office has capabilities in evaluating the dynamic response of materials and structures to impact and explosive loading. Dr. Gordon Johnson, who leads the office, is an internationally known expert in the field of computational modeling of materials.
