The NASBEM (NASA Boundary Element Method) module, a two-dimensional boundary element program, calculates stress intensity factors for any two-dimensional geometry and loading, including multiaxial/mixed-mode configurations.
NASBEM can be used to generate tables of stress intensity factors and corresponding crack lengths for use by the NASFLA module in performing life assessments.
NASBEM also calculates stress fields for any collection of points in a two-dimensional uncracked object being modeled, including its boundary.

The data input interface and stress analysis code were developed at the NASA Johnson Space Center.
The BEM computational engine was
provided by researchers at The University of Texas as part of the FADD code
(Fracture Analysis by Distributed Dislocations).
