Example of a schematic of a proposed
test cell |
All aspects of the test cell are designed by
Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), and a complete
drawing package and all documentation necessary to fabricate a test stand
and/or test facility are provided.
-
3D CAD models are generated that allow for
tradeoff studies to be conducted and space allocation to be evaluated in
advance of fabrication. These studies further help eliminate installation
problems.
-
Where mechanical fixturing is required, SwRI
provides detailed designs. In addition to mechanical designs, SwRI
incorporates the following functions:
-
Mechanical
-
Pneumatic
-
Hydraulic
-
Electrical
-
Electronic systems involving instrumentation and data acquisition
hardware are designed, and drawings showing point-to-point locations,
grounding, and shielding are developed.
-
A typical drawing
package consists of:
-
50 to 75 mechanical, electrical, and electronic
drawings
-
Outline and installation drawing
-
Parts lists
-
Assembly drawings
-
Subassembly drawings
-
Detailed component
fabrication drawings
-
Mechanical component drawings
-
Duct work
drawings
-
Wiring diagrams
-
Facility modifications
-
Assembly/disassembly
and maintenance procedures
-
Fixture design
includes:
-
Data acquisition
channel and system requirements are defined with a simultaneous
selection of complimenting instrumentation and data acquisition
hardware.
-
Stringent
software specifications are developed that encompass all aspects
of the test cell including:
-
Data recording
-
Data analysis,
-
Data
display
-
Calibration
-
Test stand control
-
Historical buffer
-
Emergency shutdown
-
Graphical user
interface
