After design and fabrication are completed, the engine or component is tested for reliability and endurance.

The Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) Advanced Combustion and Emissions Section specializes in gasoline engine development, methanol, ethanol, and other gaseous- and liquid-fueled SI engine design, development, and testing.

The staff has vast experience with automotive engines, marine engines, motorcycle engines, small off-road engines, and industrial and aircraft engines. Development efforts directed toward meeting exhaust emissions, better fuel economy, and higher power output have provided SwRI engineers and scientists with a broad engineering base and understanding of spark-ignition engine technologies from around the world.

More than 80% of SwRI's revenue is from repeat business, which indicates our ability to meet or exceed our clients' needs.

For more information about spark ignition engine capabilities at SwRI or how you can contract with SwRI, please contact Charles Roberts, Ph.D., at croberts@swri.org or (210) 522-5521.
